I happened across this on digg this morning.

Aside from my general cringiness at the thought of the 4th amendment being effed in the A, here's my problem with this.

I happened to see this piece on Countdown the other day, and this piece accurately describes what happened on the show.

And that's all it does.

This isn't reporting. It's transcribing. David Edwards and Muriel Kane watched Countdown and wrote down what was on it. There is no other source material, no opinions given. They watched TV and wrote down what they saw.

And it took two of them to do it.

I have not read anything else on The Raw Story, but if this is typical of what is on there, and based on my tendency to make snap judgments after only one exposure to something, I assume that it is, then I can't imagine going to this site learn anything.

And, as my last point of annoyance, I found it because it had been dugg by almost 1000 people.

I would like to recommend that our newly all-powerful government add the 1000 people who dugg this thing, and the two people who copied it down from the TV and begin wire tapping their phones without warrants, because they are clearly a danger, if not to others, certainly to themselves.

I saw this story this morning. Who wants to bet me that this casino doesn't end up on the south side in a black neighborhood.

They get all the good stuff. Casinos, liquor stores, no big grocery stores, crappy schools.

Billy Packer invades Canada

It seems it doesn't take very much to prove the existence expanding influence of the Packer Method . As just came across this article.

Canada doesn't really need lessons in lying. They've been trying to tell us that Ham is bacon for decades, but true to their deceitful nature, they have found the one new, true method of fabrication the U.S. has to offer and have incorporated it into their own culture.

I never dreamed Billy Packer had this kind of reach.

Oh, Canada.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a square

The Supreme Court is deciding a case concerning the First Amendment rights of a high school student. CNN posted this article about it.

This is not a cut and dried case, and I expect it to be a close call on the court. The thing I find hysterical, and in some way very frightening about this is the comment made by Ruth Bader Ginsburg about the sign held up by the student which read "Bong Hits 4 Jesus." She said, "One can look at these words and say it's just nonsense," she said. "It isn't clear that this is 'Smoke Pot.' "

Really? Bong Hits doesn't directly imply pot smoking? Really? The fact that Ruth Bader Ginsburg can look at that sign and think it's just nonsense and not a direct drug reference displays a serious disconnect between her and the rest of the world. Words mean things, and the words "Bong Hits" mean smoke pot. She's one of nine people who are applying the Constitution to our world as it is today and she has no idea what words mean in this word today. In 1789, "Bong Hits" would have been seen as nonsense, but so would about a million terms that are integral to the world in which we live.

I am in no way saying that "Bong Hits" are integral to the world in which we live, unless "we" means people at a Phish concert, but not knowing that it means what it means is just ridiculous.

I'd have to look much closer at this case to see where I come down on this one. Probably on the side of the Principal, but then again, I'm a teacher. Either way, Ruth Bader Ginsburg should figure out what things mean, otherwise when the Yahoo Serious Festival comes to town she's going to be horribly confused and will miss the showing of Young Einstein.

The list on the right everyone knows. The list on the left is the names of every soldier that has died in Iraq since 2/9/2007 when Anna Nicole Smith died. The top story again this morning on the Early Show was about this stupid whore and the men who nailed her. I left before the story on all of the people in the left hand column. I have a feeling I'd still be sitting there.

The news is a travesty. It makes me more angry every time I turn it on. I wish I had the time to go back and see how many women were killed by their husbands or boyfriends in the time the news spent covering Lacy Peterson. My guess is that the number is more than 50, yet they spent months on this thing. How many weddings were called off while we all wondered about the "runaway bride" and saw pictures of her and her yellow eyes, so help me god she had yellow eyes.

Now Brittany Spears is in Rehab again, for the third time this week. Who CARES! Apparently everyone is stupid, and we really care about this crap, or the news is doing us a horrible disservice every time they lead with this crap and push the real news, the news we should all care about because it effects our lives much more directly than blonde women with emotional problems ever could to the middle, end, or off the newscast completely.

I was looking over a US History text book a few years ago that is meant for high school students. A good portion of the section on the 1990s was spent on OJ. Does this qualify as the history our children need to know? It certainly seems that way. There was more time spent on the state of California v. Orenthal James Simspon than there was on Brown vs. Board of Education.

I better stop now, or I'm gonna get myself so worked up into a shoot that I won't be able to think clearly for the rest of the day.

God, this crap bugs the hell out of me.
